# Toolbar and navigation buttons

> Choose where the viewer's toolbar sits and where shoppers find the previous and next buttons.

The **Appearance** tab controls the viewer’s toolbar and its previous and next buttons. In Neo Product Catalog Flipbook, go to **Flipbooks**, click the flipbook’s title, then click the **Appearance** tab. Make your changes and click **Save**.

## Toolbar placement

| Option                      | What shoppers see                                                       |
| --------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Floating pill** (default) | A rounded toolbar that floats just above the bottom edge of the viewer. |
| **Fixed bar**               | A full-width bar along the bottom edge of the viewer.                   |

The toolbar holds the page indicator and the buttons for tools such as zoom, thumbnails and search. You choose which tools appear on the **Behaviour** tab. See [Page turning and viewer tools](https://docs.neoflipbook.com/customize/page-turn-and-tools/).

## Previous and next buttons

**Show previous and next buttons** is on by default. Turn it off to hide these buttons.

Shoppers can still turn pages in other ways, for example by clicking the edge of a page, scrolling with the mouse wheel, or using the arrow keys when **Keyboard shortcuts** is on.

## Button position

**Button position** sets where the previous and next buttons sit:

- **In the toolbar** (default): together with the other toolbar buttons.
- **At the page edges**: on the left and right sides of the viewer, halfway down.

This option is unavailable while **Show previous and next buttons** is off. With the **Scroll** flip style, buttons at the page edges are hidden, because shoppers scroll instead.

## Theme (product catalogs only)

For a product catalog, the **Appearance** tab also has a **Theme** select with **Light**, **Dark** and **Sepia**. It sets the colors of the viewer around the catalog pages. PDF and image flipbooks set their viewer colors on the **Flipbook** tab instead. See [Viewer colors](https://docs.neoflipbook.com/customize/viewer-colors/).

## On phones

On a narrow screen, the viewer fits the toolbar into the space by grouping some buttons into a menu. Use the **Mobile** view in the [preview](https://docs.neoflipbook.com/customize/live-preview/) to check how it looks.
