# Choose products and collections

> Pick which products and collections go in a product catalog, and control the order they appear in.

You choose a catalog’s products when you create it, and you can change them at any time on the **Catalog** tab. This page covers changing the products of an existing catalog. For the first build, see [Create a product catalog](https://docs.neoflipbook.com/create-flipbooks/from-products/).

## Change the products in a catalog

1. In Neo Product Catalog Flipbook, go to **Flipbooks** and click the catalog’s title.
2. On the **Catalog** tab, click **Products** to open the section.
3. Click **Select collections** or **Select products**. Shopify’s picker opens.
4. Tick what you want to include, then confirm your choice in the picker.
5. Wait for the products to load, then click **Save**.

The product picker lists whole products, not variants. Draft and archived products don’t show in it.

Your collections show as chips under **Selected collections:**, and your products as image tiles under **Selected products:**. To take one out, click the remove button on its chip or tile. A catalog always keeps at least one collection or product, so you can’t remove the last one.

While new products load, the preview keeps showing the previous ones and **Save** is unavailable.

## The order of products

Products appear in this order:

1. Products from your collections come first, in the order you picked the collections. Within each collection, products follow that collection’s sort order in Shopify.
2. Products you picked one by one come next, in the order you picked them.

If a product is in more than one collection, or you also picked it on its own, it appears once, in its first position. When you pick more items later, they’re added at the end.

To change the order of products you picked one by one, drag their tiles under **Selected products:**. You can drag with a mouse, press and hold on a touch screen, or use the keyboard.

Products that come from a collection can’t be dragged. To change their order, change the collection’s sort order in Shopify admin, then [refresh the product data](https://docs.neoflipbook.com/product-catalogs/keep-up-to-date/).

## Limits and rules

| Rule                             | Limit                                                                                          |
| -------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Products in one catalog          | 250. If your selection holds more, only the first 250 are included.                            |
| Collections you can pick         | 50                                                                                             |
| Products you can pick one by one | 250                                                                                            |
| Product status                   | Only active products are included. Draft, archived, unlisted and deleted products are skipped. |

If nothing in your selection is active, you see “That selection has no active products in it, so the catalog was left as it was.” Pick other products, or set the products you meant to Active in Shopify.

If you see “Could not read your products, so the catalog was left as it was.”, wait a moment and try again. This can happen when you make many changes quickly.
