What shoppers see
Shoppers read your flipbook in their browser. They don’t need an app or an account. Here’s what they see, wherever you show it.
Pages and page turning
Section titled “Pages and page turning”On a wide screen, the flipbook shows two pages side by side, like an open book. If First and last page stand alone, like a book cover is on, the first and last pages show on their own. Pages move with the flip style you chose in the General tab, such as a 3D page curl, a flat fold, a scroll or a swipe. See Title, flip style and start page.
Shoppers turn pages with the previous and next buttons, or by clicking near the outer edge of a page. If Keyboard shortcuts is on, they can use the keyboard too.
The toolbar and tools
Section titled “The toolbar and tools”The toolbar shows as a floating pill or a fixed bar, depending on your Toolbar placement setting. It holds the tools you’ve left on in the Behaviour tab. Depending on your settings, that can include zoom, fullscreen, thumbnails, search, bookmarks, a page indicator, an outline, print, download and share. Page turn sound is off unless you turn it on.
See Toolbar and navigation buttons and Page turning and viewer tools to choose what shoppers get.
In a product catalog, shoppers can click a product card to go to that product’s page on your store.
On phones
Section titled “On phones”The viewer adapts to the space it has, so it works on phones without extra setup.
- One page at a time. When the viewer is narrow, as on a phone, it shows single pages instead of two side by side.
- A compact toolbar. On the narrowest screens the toolbar shrinks to previous, zoom out, zoom in, a … menu that holds the other tools, fullscreen and next.
- Touch to turn. Shoppers tap the buttons or near the edge of a page. With the Swipe flip style they swipe sideways between pages, and with Scroll they scroll down through them.
- A taller frame. A flipbook embedded with the theme block switches to a portrait frame on screens narrower than 750 pixels.
To check the phone layout before you publish, see Preview on desktop and mobile.
In a lightbox
Section titled “In a lightbox”When the theme block is set to Open in a lightbox, the flipbook opens full screen over the page. A dark bar at the top shows its title and a × button to close it. Esc closes it too, unless the shopper has clicked into the flipbook. If a shopper closes it and opens it again, it picks up on the same page. On touch screens, the image thumbnail’s button is always visible. See Embed or open in a lightbox.
On the Free plan
Section titled “On the Free plan”On the Free plan, shoppers see the first 25 pages of each PDF or image flipbook. The flipbook simply ends at page 25: the page indicator, thumbnails and search all treat it as a 25-page book. Product catalogs show every page on every plan, and no plan adds a watermark.
The preview in the app always shows every page, so open the public link to see exactly what shoppers see. See The 25-page limit.
