Upload and link problems
Use this page when a PDF or image won’t upload into Neo Product Catalog Flipbook, a pasted link is refused, or a flipbook breaks after you tidy up your files. Find what you see below.
The file is too large
Section titled “The file is too large”- Over 20 MB: this is fine. Shopify Files takes files up to 20 MB, so the app turns off the Shopify Files option, picks Managed storage and shows “This file is larger than Shopify’s 20 MB limit, so it will be saved to Managed storage.” Managed storage takes files up to 100 MB.
- Over 100 MB: you see “Files over 100 MB can’t be uploaded.” and the Upload button is off. Make the file smaller, for example by compressing the PDF, or host it on your own website and use a link to it.
The app counts 1 MB as 1,000,000 bytes. Some computers count sizes differently, so a file shown as just under 20 MB or 100 MB can still count as over. See File types and limits.
The file type isn’t accepted
Section titled “The file type isn’t accepted”PDF flipbooks take PDF files. Image flipbooks take JPG and PNG files. For anything else, Managed storage shows “Only PDF, JPEG and PNG files can be uploaded.” Save other image formats as JPG or PNG first.
You can only choose one file at a time
Section titled “You can only choose one file at a time”Each upload takes one file, so you add images one by one. To add many images at once, paste their links, one per line, or pick them from Your files.
The upload stops or fails
Section titled “The upload stops or fails”| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Shopify is still processing this file. Try again shortly.” | Shopify is taking longer than usual to get the file ready, but it’s still being added to your Shopify Files. Wait a minute, reload the page, then pick the file from Your files instead of uploading it again. |
| “Shopify rejected the upload.” or “The upload was rejected. Try again.” | The storage refused the file. Try again. If it keeps happening, check that the file opens on your computer, or export it again from the program that made it. |
| “Upload did not complete.” | The file didn’t finish arriving in Managed storage. Upload it again. |
| “Upload failed.” or “Could not reach the server. Check your connection.” | The connection dropped during the upload. Check your internet connection and try again. Keep the page open until the upload finishes. |
After the progress bar reaches 100%, the upload shows “Finishing up…” while the file is saved and processed. Large files can stay there for a little while.
A pasted link isn’t accepted
Section titled “A pasted link isn’t accepted”The app checks every link before it accepts it. Shoppers’ browsers load the file straight from the link, so the website hosting the file must allow other sites to load it. Many file-sharing services give you a link to a page that shows the file, not to the file itself, and those links don’t work.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Paste a link to a PDF.” or “Paste at least one image link.” | The field is empty. Paste a link, then click Add PDF or Add images. |
| “Enter a link starting with https://.” | Links must start with https://. Copy the full address, including that part. |
| “This link answered with 404. Check the address.” (the number can differ) | The website didn’t return the file. Check the address by opening the link in your browser. |
| “This link doesn’t lead to a PDF file. Use a direct link to the file, not a page that shows it.” | The link opens a web page, not the PDF. Use a link that opens or downloads the file itself. |
| “This link doesn’t lead to an image file. Use a direct link to the file, not a page that shows it.” | The link opens a web page, not the image. Use a link that opens the image file itself. |
| “This link can’t be loaded in a browser. Check the address, or upload the file instead.” | The address is wrong, or the website hosting the file doesn’t allow other sites to load it. Check the address. If it’s right, upload the file instead, or ask whoever runs that website to allow it. |
When you paste several image links and more than one has a problem, the app shows one message at a time. Fix that link and click Add images again.
Pages broke after you deleted files in Shopify
Section titled “Pages broke after you deleted files in Shopify”If you delete a file in Content → Files in Shopify admin and a flipbook uses it, that flipbook breaks. The app can’t stop this, so check which files your flipbooks use before you tidy up Shopify Files.
To fix an image flipbook, remove the broken page on its Pages tab and click Save. A PDF can’t be swapped in an existing flipbook, so create the flipbook again with the file. The new flipbook gets a new public link. See Create from a PDF.
You can’t delete a file on the Assets page
Section titled “You can’t delete a file on the Assets page”On the Assets page, Delete is off while a flipbook uses the file. The line under the file’s name, such as “In use by Spring Catalog”, shows which flipbooks. Hidden flipbooks count too. If the page was open for a while, you may see “This file is used by Spring Catalog and Lookbook. Remove it from those flipbooks first.” instead.
To free the file:
- Image: open each image flipbook that uses it, remove the page on the Pages tab and click Save.
- PDF: delete the flipbook that uses it. A PDF can’t be removed from a flipbook.
See Manage files on the Assets page.
